I've always found compositional inspiration in the playing and writing of some of my favorite musicians. This song was inspired by a Joshua Redman concert that featured a somewhat unorthodox quintet with two bassists and two drummers flanking the saxophonist on either side - essentially a double trio. While the music was joyful and incredibly energetic, the evening was particularly memorable for me because it was the first jazz concert my wife-to-be and I attended together.
